Oneg Shemesh

Oneg Shemesh grew up in Israel on Moshav Mevo Modiim founded by the late Rebbe Shlomo Carlebach, Z"L. He had the great privilege of spending much time with the Rebbe, accompanying him on guitar and drawing from his wealth of knowledge. After finishing his army career, Oneg joined The Moshav Band and toured with them throughout Israel, the United States and Canada. He presently lives in New York and has been performing concerts wherever Jews are found, bringing joy and happiness to communities around the world while trying to live up to his name ONEG which means utmost joy. "The music is not just a melody with words, my music is prayer. Our sages teach us that singing the words is like praying twice; the first time for the words themselves, and the second time for the song. This is the highest form of prayer. I hope that my music finds you wherever you are and reminds you how beautiful is our Judaism, how beautiful is our tradition, and how beautiful is our love for Hashem." Oneg Shemesh

Shemesh v'Kochavim

Shemesh V'Kochavim (Sun and Stars) is a groove-oriented rock band from Israel whose music spreads a message of love and hope from their native land. Lead singer and composer Eliyon Shemesh was raised on Moshav Meor Modi'in, the home of legendary musical Rabbi Shlomo Carlebach z'l, and hails from a musical family.

Shemesh, from whom the band takes its name, is best known as the drummer for Hasidic folk performer Chaim David. With a sunny disposition that befits his name, Eliyon now has a growing following and band of his own whose sound has been compared in style and substance to The Moshav Band.

He is joined by drummer Yisrael Abehsera, who has been entertaining crowds from an early age. He lives in Jerusalem, where he studies and plays music. His father is a noted leader in the Macrobiotic movement, and was known as "The Whistler" at the Farbrengens of the Lubavitcher Rebbe. Keyboardist Mordechai Knapp hails from Montreal but now produces music in Jerusalem, where he lives with his family, and has an open home for musicians.

Shemesh V'Kochavim prides itself on its ability to express the positive, hopeful side of Israel. Their upbeat, danceable music is interspersed with tales and Hasidic stories. Their English is impeccable, so they relate well to American audiences, and their Hebrew is of course excellent as well, so that can relate well to Israeli expatriates living here.

Chaim David

Old City Jewish Quarter resident Chaim Dovid Sarachik has been touching the souls of the Jewish world with his music for over 20 years. Originally from South Africa, Chaim Dovid came to Israel at the behest of his rebbe, Rav Shlomo Carlebach z"l and has been continuing Rav Shlomo's legacy of combining music and neshama ever since. His small stature, quiet demeanor and gentle, almost fragile voice mask a spirit and fervor that surprises most who see him, but it is his folksy, moving and earnest performances that have made him a star in his own right. While his connection to his Rebbe is immutable, Chaim David has penned numerous songs of his own, simple in melody and nuanced in lyric, that are easily learned, joyously sung by thousands and an uplifting experience whenever they are heard. Shlomo Carlebach and other Chassidic music, forms a unique blend of Ethnic Jewish Folk/Rock that has got Israel’s music scene bopping to a different kind of World Beat. Aaron’s newest album Song of Zion, as all of his previous three albums, takes Praises and Psalms from Classical Jewish Texts and Literature and mixes them with a joyful twist of mystical expression and melody that captures the art of a Jewish Soul cast in a modern Jewish Setting living in the Ancient Land of Israel. Music that appeals to any ear, with no borders…

Neshama Carlebach

Neshama began her singing career three weeks after she lost her father, one of the most widely hailed figures of modern Jewish music. At first she felt compelled to sing, knowing in her heart he would have wanted her to. The beginning was a time of great sorrow, as she traveled around the world singing for thousands of people in his stead, all of us unable to accept the fact that they would never again be in his holy presence.

Two years later, Neshama began to arrange her father’s songs in a new fashion and composing new material, discovering that thus she was continuing in her father’s work while unwittingly becoming a musical force of in her own right. Neshama performs concerts in a variety of different venues ranging from JCC’s, synagogues, Hillels, and jazz clubs all over the world. She also conducts Shabbatons, teaching about different Jewish issues and telling stories about how different Rebbes and holy people of the past lit the way to clarity and peace.
